Burlington - New Munster - Wheatland Wisconsin
Recruitlings recently traveled to the towns of New Munster - Wheatland in Wisconsin for a day of filming softball games.
The New Munster - Wheatland area was part of the main road from I-94 to Lake Geneva. When Highway 50 was built just north of the area, traffic bypassed the towns and time has seemingly forgotten them. Considering the amount of traffic along Highway 50, I don't think the residents mind that their quiet little town remained a quiet little town.
One thing that struck me as I drove around town looking for the ballfield was how secluded it is. Even though the Highway 50 traffic is a stones-throw north of town, it's quiet enough there for the local children to play on the main street that runs through town, Geneva Road.
Places of note in the area are the Bella Vita Banquet Hall, just west of New Munster in Burlington, WI. It's also a convention center and they host clothes sales during the year.
St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, on Geneva Rd. St. Alphonsus also has a parochial school.
B&D Village Inn, located at 34414 Geneva Rd, Burlington, WI 53105. It's three doors down from St. Alphonsus and is on the same side of the street.
I'd really like to see how this area is divided into their respective townships.
The field is deeper than normal for fastpitch softball, so I had no reservations setting up that close to the fence since the likelihood of getting hit by a homerun was impossible. The footage from centerfield turned out great!
